Abhay 2 Review: Story & Performances:
Abhay 2 certainly stands among one of the best crime
thrillers in recent times. After the success of Abhay Season 1, director Ken
Ghosh has come up with some more thrilling stories in Abhay Season 2. Chunkey
Pandey has made his debut on the OTT platform through this web series. His character
Harsh has shown us the brutality of murdering his victims.
Abhay’s past still haunts him often but he has moved his son
to a boarding school and currently living together with a Journalist named
Sonam (played by Asha Negi ) & focusing on his job completely. He has an
unbelievable capability to read any case and figure out the plan to catch the
murderer as earliest possible.
9 meritorious students who were preparing for competitive
exams got missing from the local areas of Lucknow. The case was handed over to
Special Task Force Officer Abhay along with his team including Khushboo (played
by Nidhi Singh), Awasthi (Devender Chaudhury), and two others.
Harsh (played by Chunkey Pandey) believed in gaining
knowledge by eating some brilliant students’ brains, so he also killed his own
wife. The STF team started with some basic investigations and they found some
clues to finally catch Harsh red-handed while attempting to murder a student named
Dhiren.
The next episode was about Saloni (played by Bidita Bag), a
sex worker who enjoys murdering her clients and keeping a tooth from those
victims. While she was spending time with one of her favorite clients, the STF
team found her and before they can arrest her she kills herself.
The next episode showed us a mysterious kidnapper (played by Ram
Kapoor) kidnapped 35 children and two teachers out of which 25 have been
successfully rescued by Abhay. The rest of those children will be released one by
one if Abhay successfully solves the mystery given by the kidnapper.
The storytelling was quite different compared to other
crime thrillers as here you are getting an idea about the culprits before even
the investigation starts. Nothing much to say about Director Ken Ghosh as he has shown us again his powerful direction skill in Abhay 2.
Kunal Khemu as Abhay Pratap Singh, a Special Task Force
Officer was simply outstanding. He continues his good performances. His last
released movie Lootcase has earned him lots of praise for his good
performance.
Ram Kapoor has been phenomenal in doing such a role with
almost perfection. His look and body language were so scary and perfect for such
a role. He has thrown challenges to Abhay which will unfold in the next episodes.
Chunkey provided a spectacular performance on his digital
debut. Nidhi Singh with her occasional good inputs on some cases was a fair
choice for the role and Devender Chaudhury with his occasional jokes while
investigating the cases was quite effective.
Asha Negi, popularly known for her performance in Pavitra
Rishta daily soap, has already made her debut on the OTT platform through the web series Baarish opposite to Sharman Joshi. Her performance in Abhay 2 as a
journalist, always trying to reveal the truth was good enough.
A complete packed-up performance from the lead casts of the
series has made Abhay 2 a must-watch. Only three episodes are streaming
currently and another 5 episodes will stream from 4th September
onwards.
The series is streaming on ZEE5.
