Tandav Web Series Review: Story & Performances
Tandav
marks Ali Abbas Zafar’s directorial debut on the OTT platform. He has already
directed some blockbuster Bollywood movies like “Gunday”, “Sultan”, “Tiger
Zinda Hai”, etc.
In the opening scene, we saw farmers protesting to save their land. After
receiving the order first from Gurpal(Sunil Grover) and then from their superiors to
kill 3 selected people among those protestors two Policemen successfully executed
it.
Gurpal is
the right hand of Samar Pratap Singh (Saif Ali Khan), who is the son of the
current Prime Minister of India Devki Nandan (Tigmanshu Dhulia).
Then we saw
a student leader Shiva(Mohd Zeeshan Ayyub) trying to get student support at the
VNU campus.
Samar
poisoned his father to death. It was almost certain that he would be the next
Prime Minister after his father’s death. But he had other plans and announce
Anuradha Kishore’s(Dimple Kapadia) name.
She and Devki
were in a relationship during their earlier days. Anuradha’s son Raghu(Paresh
Pahuja) would have been the Defense Minister as earlier decided by Devki.
An unknown
call to Anuradha’s confidante Maithili informed claims of having proof of Devki’s
murder. They believed and accepted the proposal of having a small part of the
proof at a cost of 1 crore rupees.
After
watching the trailer many of us had expected that Tandav could be one of the
best political thrillers. It rarely meets those expectations.
Except for
the stellar acting performances from Saif Ali Khan & Dimple Kapadia, you
will rarely find any good elements throughout the series.
Tigmanshu
Dhulia, Sunil Grover, and Gauhar Khan also contributed well with their respective
characters.
Gaurav Solanki’s writing looked very ordinary. Some of those very familiar dialogues and a weak plot rarely left any good impression.
