The Girl On The Train Movie Story & Performances:
Director Ribhu Dasgupta’s movie “The Girl on the Train” is based on Paula Hawkins’ novel with the same title. He made his directorial debut (also the writer) with “Michael” starring Naseeruddin Shah in 2011.
“The Girl on the Train” movie started with suspense that leaves you searching for the answer till the end. In the very next scene, we were taken to a wedding ceremony. Groom’s friend Shekhar(Avinash Tiwary) meets the bride’s friend Mira Kapoor(Parineeti Chopra) there.
They started liking each other, spending time with each other and soon got married. Mira is a reputed Lawyer by profession and Shekhar is a Cardiologist.
Both were living a perfectly happy married life until the day when a black card followed Mira sends a warning note for not taking up the case else she will face consequences.
She wanted to ignore the warning but Shekhar was able to convince her for the sake of their future.
She was pregnant and was expecting a baby within the next 2 months. While they were in the car an accident turned her happy life into a disaster.
She lost her baby and became a regular alcoholic which resulted in their divorce. Shekhar is now living with Anjali (Natasha Benton).
On her way to nowhere, she travels regularly and keeps watching her old house from the train.
She found a beautiful lady Nusrat John (Aditi Rao Hydari) is living a happy life with her husband Anand Joshi (Shamaun Ahmed) in her favorite house.
A missing report was been lodged over the phone for City Hospital’s staff nurse Nusrat at the local Police station.
Officer Kaur (Kirti Kulhari) was handed over the case for the investigation.
The plot looks too much weak, lacking any significant suspense and keeping the audience engaged. Many loopholes are there which make the story a bit funny sometimes.
Parineeti Chopra who had taken performance graphs up in movies like Ishaqzaade, Shuddh Desi Romance, Kesari, Hasee Toh Phasee, hardly left any good impression in this crime thriller “The Girl on the Train”.
Her upcoming movie Saina based on the life of the star Badminton player Saina Nehwal will be released on 26th March 2021, directed by Amole Gupte.
The only positive areas of the movie were Aditi Rao Hydari’s performance, Tota Roy Chowdhury’s cameo, and the twist at the end.
Director Ribhu Dasgupta was not impressed at all in “The Girl on the Train” movie. He has delivered mystery thriller like “Teen” and web series “Bard of Blood”.
