Sooryavanshi Movie Review: 4th Highest Opening Day Collection for Rohit Shetty
There can’t be a better way to celebrate the comeback of mainstream Hindi cinema than the release of “Sooryavanshi” which has collected Rs. 26.29 crores on its opening day that too with 50% occupancy.
But the question will still be there. Was the movie “Sooryavanshi” bigger than what was expected by audiences? Let’s have a look at Sooryavanshi Review:
Sooryavanshi Movie Review: Story
The story of Sooryavanshi was narrated by Ajay Devgn who also appeared in the movie as a cameo. DCP Veer Sooryavanshi (Akshay Kumar), the most dependable and fearless cop of the Anti-Terrorism Squad in India, joined this team after he lost his parents in a terrorist attack in 1993. He forgets people’s names quite easily & was not having a great bonding lately with his wife Riya(Katrina Kaif) after the accident where their son Aaryan got severely injured in a cross-firing.
Bilal Ahmed (Kumud Mishra), Lashker Chief Omar Hafiz (Jackie Shroff) & his son Riyaz Hafeez (Abhimanyu Singh) were planning for a bigger attack than 26/11 on Mumbai.
Out of 1 ton RDX, the remaining 600 kgs after the ’93 blast were missing. ATS head Kabir Shroff(Javed Jaffrey) handed over the task to Sooryavanshi and his team to find it out and also to neutralize the sleeper cells through a few police operations.
Sooryavanshi Movie Review: Performance & Analysis
Like almost every other Rohit Shetty action-entertainer you will be entertained throughout the Sooryavanshi movie by the action sequences. Things didn’t go well as per the expectations in the first half of the movie. Bajirao Singham(Ajay Devgn) & Simmba Bhalerao(Ranveer Singh) had to appear in the second half to make the job easier for Sooryavanshi.
A gripping second half of the movie will keep you hooked to your seats. The best part of Sooryavanshi was certainly the last half an hour where the trio of Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgn & Ranveer Singh were at their best.
Watching Akshay Kumar in high octane high sequences again after a quite long time, was a treat for audiences during Diwali. After his top-notch performance in Bell Bottom, fans were eagerly waiting to see him on the big screen. He will also feature in upcoming movies like OMG – Oh My God! 2, Mission Cinderella, Gorkha, Ram Setu, Raksha Bandhan, Bachchan Pandey, Prithiviraj, and Atrangi Re.
Javed Jaffrey & Gulshan Grover provided valuable contributions to their respective characters.
What were the Highlights of Sooryavanshi?
Akshay Kumar’s performance, the action sequences, the background score, and the cameo of Ajay Devgn & Ranveer Singh were the highlights of Sooryavanshi.
What was the bad about Sooryavanshi?
The predictable plot & underutilization of stars like Jackie Shroff & Kumud Mishra were a bit disappointing from a director like Rohit Shetty. Neither Katrina Kaif’s performance nor the remakes of two-hit songs “Aila Re Aila” & “Tip Tip Barsa Paani” were up to the mark. The execution went wrong in a few scenes like the one when Akshay Kumar & his team had to catch John(Sikander Kher).
