Hit: The first case (2022) review: Story, Performance & Analysis
The story of Hit the first case is not different from the original Telugu movie with the same name. In fact, it looked like barring the characters; director Sailesh Kolanu wanted a frame-to-frame copy of the original one for this Hindi remake.
Inspector Vikram(Rajkummar Rao) working for Homicide Intervention Team is often haunted by a traumatic past and as per his doctor’s suggestion if he doesn’t leave the job then something worse can happen. This may remind you of the Abhay web series on ZEE5 where despite being haunted by his past Kunal Khemu did not fail to solve cases.
Vikram’s loving and caring girlfriend Neha (Sanya Malhotra) is a forensic expert and she also tried to convince him to follow the doctor’s advice but Vikram didn’t pay much attention to this. He has the support of his boss Ajit Singh Shekhawat(Dilip Tahil) but receives alerts when he tries to break rules.
He received the case of the missing college student Preeti which was earlier given to Akshay(Jatin Goswami). Before she went missing sub-inspector Ibrahim(Milind Gunaji) saw her standing by the roadside as her car broke down. He also offered help dropping her off but she just asked for Ibrahim’s phone to call her father & he gave it.
Vikram is assisted by his junior Rohit(Akhil Iyer). Meanwhile, Neha also went missing which made Vikram more worried. He found some links between the missing Preeti and Neha. The rest of the story is about whether Vikram will be successful in finding Neha and Preeti or not.
If we are talking about the performances then Hit: the first case solely belongs to Rajkummar Rao. Vikram may not be one of the most challenging characters he has played in his career but he played it with utmost perfection. While telling about the challenging characters he played I would like to mention The white tiger, Newton, Omerta, Aligarh, Stree, Ludo, Badhaai do, Chhalaang, & the upcoming movie Bheed, etc.
I would say here that director Sailesh Kolanu failed to utilize a talented actress like Sanya Malhotra as Neha who has earlier delivered solid performances in Dangal, Shakuntala Devi, Ludo, Pataakha, Pagglait, etc.
Dilip Tahil, Shilpa Shukla, Milind Gunaji, and Akhil Iyer provided good support with their respective characters.
Director Sailesh Kolanu didn’t focus too much on providing much detail about Vikram’s back story which could have made the narrative more engaging & one reason could be the way the film ended we may get part 2 of it.
Final Words
Hit: The first case is a crime thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat after the first half with a brilliant performance by Rajkummar Rao.
