Savings Account (2022) Bengali Movie Review: Story
Abhimanyu Sen (Ankush Hazra) arrived at People’s Welfare Bank to open a savings account but after sometimes Jeetu (Debopriyo Mukherjee) took the people inside the bank as hostages with a gun. And then we learn Abhimanyu is leading the mission.
Jeetu took the money & wanted to leave but Abhimanyu had something else in mind so he gave 8 tasks to DSP Shaoni (Sayantika Banerjee) who arrived there for the rescue of the hostages. Will she be able to complete the tasks? Will Abhimanyu release the hostages?
Performances & Analysis
A reporter & her cameraman outside the bank captured a Muslim man’s photo inside the bank and declared him the terrorist who kept the people inside the bank as hostages.
The officer-in-charge Sayantika Banerjee ordered the task force not to shoot as the hostages have been released by the attacker, but another team of task force arrived at the place and shot that Muslim man dead.
These two scenes simply stunned me & it took time for me to believe that I am actually watching a Bengali movie starring Ankush Hazra and Sayantika Banerjee in the lead role.
I hope Ankush Hazra will be a bit more careful going forward before choosing a script like this. I know scripts like Mirza, Bibaho Obhijaan, & Zulfiqar do not come often but doing movies like FIR No 339, Ogo Bideshini, or Savings Account won’t help him establish himself as one of the dependable actors in the Industry.
Director Raja Chanda is yet to make a big impact in the industry. Savings Account is his 22nd directorial movie and in the last couple of years, he has delivered projects like Harano Prapti, Magic, & Ajob Premer Golpo which gave forgetful experiences.
Sayantika Banerjee makes a comeback with this movie after 4 years as her last movie Bagh Bandi Khela starring Jeet, Prosenjit Chatterjee, Srabanti Chatterjee, Soham Chakraborty & Rittika Sen was released in 2018. But after watching her as DSP Shaoni here I kept wondering the reasons that led her to choose such a character.
Peaen Sarkar, Debopriyo Mukherjee, Oindrila Banerjee, & Meghna Halder had nothing much in the script to offer.
Final Words:
Director Raja Chanda’s crime thriller Savings Account has nothing good to offer & it’s a complete waste of talent and energy, so it’s better to close such an account.
