Kurban (2023) Bengali Movie Trailer:
On October 10, 2023, the trailer for the upcoming film Kurban, starring Ankush Hazra, was released. Produced by Albatross Productions, the film is set to hit theaters on November 24, in direct competition with Jeet's action thriller Manush: Child of Destiny.
Directed by Saibal Banerjee, known for his work on films like Sanjhbati and Khelaghar, along with Leena Ganguli, Kurban promises to showcase Ankush Hazra in a completely different light, portraying one of the most challenging characters of his career to date.
The 2-minute and 12-second trailer opens with Priyanka Sarkar in the role of Hizal, engaged in prayer. Hizal, a unique character, believes that her competition lies not with other women, but with the riversides and bamboo forests.
Ankush Hazra portrays Hasan, a character marked by a troubled childhood. He stands apart from others due to his distinctive way of speaking, the content of his conversations, his occasional over-emotional demeanor, and his tendency to remain lost in his own world.
In one memorable scene, while riding a boat, Ankush asks the boat driver, "Have you ever seen a person burn away? The boat driver responds, "Yes, from afar." Hasan persists, "I don't mean a dead body; I mean a living human." In another scene, Ankush remarks, "You're committing a sin by inviting someone home and poisoning their food."
Hizal, his wife, waits throughout the day for Hasan to emerge from his inner world and pay attention to her, but he remains largely indifferent to her emotions. Hizal asks Hasan, "Will you find peace if I leave?"
Kanchan Mullick also features in the trailer, emphasizing communal harmony by saying, "Being a Hindu, sharing food from the same plate, how great is that." Shantilal Mukherjee plays a crucial role in the film and, in one scene, comments, "A Hindu Brahmin wife spends all her time with a family from a different faith! Shameful." Another scene features a woman in tears, declaring, "I fell victim to shameless human lust, not communal disharmony."
The film predominantly unfolds in rural areas, offering a vivid depiction of the local culture and its inhabitants. It also touches on caste-related issues. The central mystery revolves around Hasan's apparent disregard for Hizal's feelings.
The story, screenplay, and dialogues of Kurban have been crafted by the director, Saibal Mukherjee, while Rupanjan Pal is responsible for cinematography. Raja Narayan Deb takes charge of composing the music, and Subhajit Singha is the film's editor.
This year, Ankush Hazra makes guest appearances in Raktabeej and Biye Bibhrat, in addition to his roles in Bhoy, Love Marriage, and Abar Bibaho Obhijaan. There are high expectations for his upcoming action thriller, Mirza.
Actress Priyanka Sarkar is also set to appear in other projects, including Lojja on Hoichoi and Chhotolok on Zee5, apart from Arkadip Mallika Nath's Mir Zafar Chapter 2.
