Since the release of the exciting news, fans have been eagerly awaiting every update on one of the most highly anticipated collaborations in Indian cinema: the partnership between Superstar Mahesh Babu and Director S. S. Rajamouli for their upcoming film, tentatively titled SSMB29. This film marks Mahesh Babu's 29th lead role and S. S. Rajamouli's 12th directorial venture. It promises to be a globetrotting adventure thriller, with Mahesh Babu's character drawing inspiration from Lord Hanuman.
The production of SSMB29 is slated to be one of the most significant budget films, with pre-production work commencing in January 2024 and shooting scheduled to start in April 2024 in various jungles and exotic locations of South Africa. The film will be produced by KL Narayana, who is making a comeback after more than 17 years. Narayana has previously produced successful films such as Ninne Ishtapaddanu, Hello Brother, Kshana Kshanam, and Rakhi.
S. S. Rajamouli and his father, KV Vijayendra Prasad, are collaboratively working on finalizing the script. Vijayendra Prasad is renowned for his contributions to films like Magadheera (Story), Baahubali: The Beginning (Story), Baahubali 2: The Conclusion (Story), Rowdy Rathore (Story), Vikramarkudu (Story), Mersal (Screenplay), Bajrangi Bhaijaan (Screenplay), among others.
Fans firmly believe that this film will be the most significant hit in both Mahesh Babu and Rajamouli's careers. Several reasons suggest that SSMB29 could become one of the biggest blockbusters in Indian cinema.
This pan-India film will utilize cutting-edge international technology to deliver an extraordinary cinematic experience. There are also possibilities that Superstar Kamal Haasan and Hollywood actor Chris Hemsworth will play significant roles, with Deepika Padukone potentially being the female lead. To meet the character's demands, Mahesh Babu will undergo a rigorous three-month training program.
S. S. Rajamouli's last three films have achieved remarkable worldwide success, including Baahubali: The Beginning with a box office share of Rs 302 crore, Baahubali 2: The Conclusion with Rs 831 crore, and RRR with Rs 624 crore.
In Mahesh Babu's case, his last film, Sarkaru Vaari Paata, became the fastest Telugu film to surpass the Rs 100 crore mark at the domestic box office, releasing exclusively in the Telugu language. Mahesh Babu is also a five-time winner of the Filmfare Award for Best Actor in the Telugu category, second only to Chiranjeevi, who holds the record with seven awards in the same category.
Both Mahesh Babu and S. S. Rajamouli did not have theatrical releases this year, as they are taking the necessary time to deliver their best in this much-anticipated collaboration. Mahesh Babu's upcoming film, Guntur Kaaram, is set to hit theaters on 12th January 2024, following the release of Sarkaru Vaari Paata in 2022. S. S. Rajamouli's previous film, RRR, which earned him a National Award, was also released in 2022.
