Pradhan (2023) Bengali Movie Trailer Review:
On December 4th, 2023, Superstar Dev unveiled the trailer for his highly anticipated family drama Pradhan. Directed by Avijit Sen, with Shubhadeep Das penning the screenplay & dialogues, the film is set to hit theaters on December 22, 2023.
The nearly three-minute trailer provides a glimpse into the plot, revolving around an elderly couple (Paran Bandyopadhyay and Mamata Shankar) desperately seeking financial support from their son (John Bhattacharya). As hope dwindles, Inspector Deepak Pradhan (Dev) arrives in Dharmapur, aiming to rescue the local residents from Jotileshwar Mukherjee (Anirban Chakrabarti), a powerful local leader.
The trailer's highlights include Dev's charismatic presence and impactful punchlines, with Anirban Chakrabarti's portrayal of the antagonist standing out as a significant takeaway. Paran Bandyopadhyay and Mamata Shankar deliver poignant performances in emotional scenes, while Soumitrisha, as Deepak Pradhan's wife, is subtly introduced in the trailer. Soham Chakraborty's portrayal of Bibek promises to be an intriguing character to watch.
Gopi Bhagat handles the cinematography, and Sujay Dutta Ray takes on the film's editing. The music, composed by Shantanu Moitra, Anupam Roy, and Rathijit Bhattacharjee, adds to the film's atmosphere, with Rathijit Bhattacharjee overseeing the background score.
Produced jointly by Bengal Talkies, Dev Entertainment Ventures, and Pranab Kumar Guha, Pradhan poses a significant challenge for Dev, as two major films, Prabhas' Salaar Part 1: The Ceasefire and Shah Rukh Khan's Dunki, are also set to release on the same day. Convincing audiences to choose Pradhan over the other two will be a formidable task.
We have already witnessed how last month's Bengali film releases, such as Jeet's Manush, Dhrubo Banerjee's Bogla Mama Jug Jug Jiyo, Kamaleswar Mukherjee's Ektu Sore Boshun, and Ankush's Kurban, which suffered due to releasing a week before Ranbir Kapoor's Animal.
However, considering Dev's past successes with Tonic and Projapoti, both released during Christmas and well-received despite the competition, there is hope for continued success. Notably, Tonic faced off against Kabir Khan's 83 and Aanand L. Rai's Atrangi Re, while Projapoti clashed with Rohit Shetty's Cirkus.
The film features a strong ensemble cast, including Kharaj Mukherjee, Ambareesh Bhattacharya, Kanchan Mullick, Koninica Banerjee, Sohini Sengupta, Biswanath Basu, Sujan Mukherjee, and Debasish Mondal in pivotal roles in Pradhan.
