Laapataa Ladies (2024) Movie Official Trailer Review:
On January 24th, 2024, Aamir Khan Productions unveiled the trailer for their upcoming comedy-drama film, Laapataa Ladies. Directed by Kiran Rao, the movie stars Sparsh Shrivastav, Nitanshi Goel, and Pratibha Ranta in lead roles, with Ravi Kishan, Durgesh Kumar, Chhaya Kadam, and Bhaskar Jha in supporting roles.
The nearly two-and-a-half-minute trailer commences with a scene from a wedding, featuring Deepak Kumar (Sparsh Shrivastav), who, after marrying Phool (Nitanshi Goel), returns home. Deepak's mother requests Phool to unveil herself so that relatives can see her face. To their surprise, the bride is revealed to be Pushpa Rani (Pratibha Ranta), not Deepak's wife. The plot thickens as everyone wonders how the bride got swapped.
In their quest to find Phool, they visit the local police station to file a missing person complaint with the office in charge, played by Ravi Kishan. The officer responds with an expressionless demeanor, sarcastically stating that despite his efforts over the years, his own wife hasn't gotten lost. Pushpa Rani refuses to be photographed without her veil, adding to the mystery. When asked for a photo of Phool, Deepak Kumar hands over the only picture he has, where Phool's face is covered by a veil. Will Deepak Kumar find his wife, Phool? The answer awaits when the film hits theaters in March.
The trailer edit hasn't been up to the mark, revealing a lot of details about the plot. However, the film seems to be entertaining to watch because of the unique story, and the comedy scenes look good in the trailer. Additionally, the film features the reused superhit song "Chunari Chunari" from "Biwi No. 1."
Kiran Rao returns as a director after 12 years, marking her second directorial venture since her debut with "Dhobi Ghat (Mumbai Diaries)" in 2011, starring Aamir Khan, Monica Dogra, Kriti Malhotra, and Prateik Babbar. Sparsh Shrivastav's notable performance in "Jamtara" and Pratibha Ranta's roles in "Aadha Ishq" and "Qurbaan Hua" add to the film's promising cast. Nitanshi Goel, with brief appearances in projects like "M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story," "Naagarjuna: EK Yoddha," "Indu Sarkar," "Daayan," "Inside Edge," and "Hurdang," contributes to the ensemble.
The film is produced by Aamir Khan, Kiran Rao, and Jyoti Deshpande under the banners of Aamir Khan Productions and Jio Studios. The original story is crafted by Biplab Goswami, with Sneha Desai handling the screenplay and dialogues, and Divyanidhi Sharma supporting with additional dialogues. Vikash Nowlakha manages the cinematography, Jabeen Merchant oversees the editing, and Ram Sampath will compose the music for Laapataa Ladies.
