Mentaaal (2024) Bengali Movie Official Trailer Review:
On January 8, 2024, actor Yash Dasgupta unveiled the official trailer for his upcoming action thriller Mentaaal. Directed by Baba Yadav, the film stars Nusrat Jahan opposite Yash Dasgupta.
The nearly 3-minute trailer highlights the powerful MLA Rudrani Chowdhury (played by Sayantani Ghosh) who has been ruling Raghunathpur for quite some time. Along with her brothers, she is involved in illegal activities such as smuggling and women trafficking.
Inspector Surya Roy (Yash Dasgupta) arrives in Raghunathpur to put a stop to these illegal businesses. During his mission, he encounters Pooja Chowdhury (Nusrat Jahan), a school teacher, and falls for her. The trailer raises the question of whether Surya will be able to halt Rudrani Chowdhury's illegal activities.
However, the trailer's editing has not lived up to expectations, as it reveals a substantial portion of the story. Yash Dasgupta's punchlines and actions are the major highlights. Sayantani Ghosh takes on a negative role, and the face-off between Rudrani and Surya promises to be an interesting clash. Madan Mitra who made his acting debut with Oh Lovely will be seen in a crucial role in this film.
The action sequences, choreographed by Aejaz Gulab and Rocky Rajesh, are visually appealing. The background score by S P Venkatesh and the music composition by Aamlaann Chakraabarty and Keshab Dey are decent.
The story of "Mentaaal" has been penned by Mihhiir, while Rohit Dey and Soumo have handled the screenplay and dialogues. Sudipta Majumdar and Souvik Basu are responsible for the cinematography, and Md. Kalam has edited the film.
Director Birsa Dasgupta, known for "Gangster," sees Yash Dasgupta returning to the commercial zone after a couple of years. "Mentaaal," produced by Yash Dasgupta and Nusrat Jahan, marks their first collaboration with director Baba Yadav, famous for the "Boss" franchise. This film marks the third collaboration between Yash Dasgupta and Nusrat Jahan after "One" in 2017 and "SOS Kolkata" in 2020.
