On January 15, 2024, Balaji Telefilms unveiled the title and cast of their upcoming film, The Sabarmati Report. Directed by Ranjan Chandel, the movie features Vikrant Massey, Raashii Khanna, and Ridhi Dogra in lead roles.
The film's narrative revolves around the true events that transpired on February 27, 2002, during the Sabarmati Express Godhra train burning incident, where 59 Hindu pilgrims and karsevaks lost their lives. Aseem Arrora, known for his work on projects like Mission Majnu, Freddy, Cuttputlli, Malang, Bellbottom, Ek Villain Returns, and Chhalaang, has penned the story.
Produced by Shobha Kapoor and Ektaa R Kapoor's Balaji Motion Pictures, the film marks the first collaboration between Vikrant Massey and Ranjan Chandel. Additionally, it is the debut pairing of Vikrant Massey with co-stars Raashii Khanna and Ridhi Dogra.
Vikrant Massey, acclaimed for his stellar performance in Vidhu Vinod Chopra's 12th Fail, is set to feature in upcoming films such as Yaar Jigri, Sector 36, and Phir Aayi Haseen Dilruba.
Ranjan Chandel's earlier directorial ventures include Grahan, Bamfaad, and Jaan Jigar: Beloved. Notably, this collaboration marks Vikrant Massey's first association with director Ranjan Chandel.
Ridhi Dogra, who delivered a notable performance in last year's hits like Jawan and Tiger 3, joins Raashii Khanna, known for her roles in superhit web series Farzi and Rudra – The Edge of Darkness in the last two years.
