The makers unveiled a few pictures featuring Alia Bhatt and Vedang Raina from their shooting scenes. This project marks Alia Bhatt’s first collaboration with director Vasan Bala. Alia Bhatt shared the news from her social media handle with the quote "jigra oh… abki teri baari ho #VedangRaina & that’s a film wrap on #JIGRA"
Jigra has been written by Debashish Irengbam, while Achint Thakkar will compose the music. Vikram Dahiya, known for his work as the action choreographer in films like Ganapath Part 1, OMG 2, Jalsa, Antim: The Final Truth, and Haseen Dilruba, among others, will oversee the action choreography.
Prerna Saigal is editing the film, with Swapnil S. Sonawane ISC handling the cinematography. Jigra is jointly produced by Karan Johar, Apoorva Mehta, Alia Bhatt, and Somen Mishra under the banners Dharma Productions and Eternal Sunshine Productions.
This film marks Alia Bhatt's 19th project in a lead role. Her last appearance was in Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani opposite Ranveer Singh, and she is also set to feature in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s upcoming film Love and War, co-starring Ranbir Singh and Vicky Kaushal. Vedang Raina made his acting debut last year with director Zoya Akhtar’s film The Archies.
Previously, the makers unveiled an announcement teaser on September 26, 2023. The one-minute teaser features dialogues from Alia Bhatt, where she promises her brother to protect him from any danger, anytime, anywhere, always. Vasan Bala’s previous directorial film was Monica, O My Darling, starring Rajkummar Rao, Huma Qureshi, Akansha Ranjan Kapoor, Radhika Apte, and Sikandar Kher.
