Director Joydeep Mukherjee’s mystery thriller Adv Achinta Aich, starring Ritwick Chakraborty, Saswata Chatterjee, Surangana Bandyopadhyay, Debraj Bhattacharya, Kheya Chattopadhyay, Loknath Dey, & Roja Paromita Dey, premiered on Hoichoi on 26th April 2024.
The story revolves around Malini Dutta (Surangana Bandyopadhyay), who has been accused of killing her husband, Pablo Dutta. With ample eyewitnesses and the formidable lawyer Sitaram Ganguly (Saswata Chatterjee) on the case, Malini finds herself in a challenging situation despite her denial of the crime.
Unable to secure a strong legal defense, Malini's mother turns to Adv Achinta Aich (Ritwick Chakraborty) to represent her daughter. As the case unfolds, questions arise: Did Malini Dutta indeed kill Pablo? Can Achinta Aich overcome Sitaram Ganguly in court?
Courtroom dramas are gaining popularity, and Adv Achinta Aich follows in the footsteps of Hoichoi's successful series like Jaha Bolibo Shotto Bolibo, indicating a growing focus on such thrilling narratives.
Ritwick Chakraborty and Joydeep Mukherjee elevate their collaboration with Adv Achinta Aich, surpassing their previous works like Gora and Gora 2. This raises expectations for their future projects, including Gora 3.
The series shines in the intense face-off between Saswata Chatterjee and Ritwick Chakraborty. While Saswata's character dominates initially, Ritwick's portrayal gains momentum in the latter episodes. Saswata Chatterjee continues his OTT success after his remarkable performance in Raj Chakraborty’s Abar Proloy.
Ritwick Chakraborty’s previous web series Kolonko was certainly not the typical work we often associate with him, but his performance in Adv Achinta Aich demonstrates that with a strong script, he can deliver his best. His dialogue delivery, expressions, and comedic timing are impeccable, showcasing his versatility as an actor.
Debraj Bhattacharya impresses as Achinta’s Assistant Laxman Bhim Sardar, with his commendable comedic timing and expressions. The chemistry between Debraj Bhattacharya and Ritwick Chakraborty adds humor to the series, making their scenes enjoyable.
The subplots are well-developed with sufficient backstory, enriching the narrative. The bond between Achinta and his father adds depth to the story, with Dulal Lahiri delivering an impressive performance as Achinta’s father. Surangana Bandyopadhyay as Malini Dutta delivers a decent performance.
Kheya Chattopadhyay as Geeta and Loknath Dey as Debnath deliver good performances despite limited screen time. Roja Paromita Dey, Alokananda Roy Banerjee, & Saswati Guhathakurta contribute significantly to the series.
Subhadeep Guha’s background score enhances the engaging narrative, while Koyel Ganguly’s dialogue writing, particularly Achinta's closing statement in court, deserves special mention. Joydeep Mukherjee deserves praise for his direction, brilliantly executing this thrilling series.
