On May 17, 2024, Hoichoi unveiled the official trailer of their upcoming political thriller web series Abar Rajneeti, directed by Sourav Chakraborty. The series stars Ditipriya Roy, Kaushik Ganguly, Koneenica Banerjee, Arjun Chakrabarty, and Aniruddha Gupta, who reprise their roles from Rajneeti Season 1. Madhurima Basak and Debojyoti Roychowdhury are the new additions to the cast in Season 2.
The two-minute trailer begins with Rashi Banerjee (Ditipriya Roy), the daughter of politician Rathin Banerjee (Kaushik Ganguly), sharing her understanding with the public of Rijpur about how her family members cheated each other for the throne of Rijpur. She is preparing to step into her father’s shoes and stand by the people of Rijpur. Her mother, Mallika (Koneenica Banerjee), has also started her election campaign and is ready to do everything to win the throne. The political fights among Rijpur's candidates are going to be more intense this time.
After Rathin Banerjee’s death, his twin brother Protim Banerjee (Kaushik Ganguly) returns to Rijpur. When Mallika asks him if he came to eliminate her, Protim Banerjee replies that he came to tell the story of a king. He is trying to convince Mallika not to repeat the mistakes he has made. Dr. Debojit (Aniruddha Gupta) is seen shouting that everyone will die. Arjun Chakrabarty, Shyamal Chakraborty, and Madhurima Basak also appear in the trailer. Why has Protim Banerjee returned to Rijpur? Who will win the throne?
These questions will be answered when the series premieres on Hoichoi on May 24, 2024. The trailer is well-edited, maintaining suspense around the major plot elements. Aniruddha Gupta’s scene in the trailer is particularly impactful; the way he smiles and says, “Morbe, sobai morbe,” gives goosebumps. The performances of Ditipriya Roy, Kaushik Ganguly, Koneenica Banerjee, and Arjun Chakrabarty look promising in the trailer.
Amit Bose and Yash Gupta’s music and background score are additional highlights. Subhadeep Dey is responsible for the cinematography, and Amitava Dasgupta for the editing. Sourav Chakraborty and Sayantan Dhara wrote the story, with Chakraborty, Dhara, and Abhra Chakraborty handling the screenplay and dialogues for Abar Rajneeti.
Adding the disclaimer, “All characters in this video are fictitious. Any resemblance to persons living or dead is purely coincidental,” in the trailer was a wise decision, considering the series is being released during the election period in West Bengal. After the success of Chemistry Mashi, expectations from director Sourav Chakraborty are quite high this time.
