Windows Production dropped the official teaser announcement of their upcoming thriller Bohurupi on August 28, 2024. Directed by Nandita Roy and Shiboprosad Mukherjee, the film is scheduled for release this Durga Puja. The makers had initially planned to release the pre-teaser during Independence Week, but due to the recent tragic events in the state—the rape and murder of a doctor at R G Kar—they decided to delay it.
The nearly 1-minute teaser opens with Shiboprosad Mukherjee, dressed in light-colored traditional attire, standing on a boat while holding a long pole. In the next scene, Mukherjee is seen laughing loudly, performing in front of a gathering. Another scene features a young man in a checkered shirt with shades of red and blue, applying makeup or paint to his face, likely portraying a younger version of Mukherjee’s character.
One of the teaser’s most intriguing moments is when Abir Chatterjee is seen chasing Shiboprosad Mukherjee. It seems that Mukherjee’s character will be the biggest surprise of the film, as we haven’t seen him in this kind of avatar before. Bonnie Chakraborty’s background score beautifully enhances the mood of the teaser.
A close-up, low-angle shot beautifully captures Shiboprosad Mukherjee, wearing a striped shirt with a muted color palette, as he smokes a cigarette, with sunlight filtering through the trees in the background. He appears relaxed, holding the cigarette between his fingers and taking a drag.
Ritabhari Chakraborty is seen dancing or performing with her arm raised and head slightly tilted back, her long dark hair flowing freely as she wears a blue saree in a scene filled with warm lighting and luxurious surroundings. In another scene, she is seen sitting on a swing, also in a blue saree, her hair flowing freely, seemingly enjoying the moment. Behind her, Abir Chatterjee, dressed in a police uniform and cap, is pushing the swing.
Koushani Mukherjee is introduced in a close-up shot holding two betel leaves in front of her face, completely obscuring it. In another scene, she is seen sitting closely with Shiboprosad Mukherjee, suggesting a romantic connection between their characters.
The face-off between Abir Chatterjee and Shiboprosad Mukherjee promises to be one of the most exciting aspects of Bohurupi. Additionally, the on-screen chemistry between Abir Chatterjee and Ritabhari Chakraborty, as well as that between Shiboprosad Mukherjee and Koushani Mukherjee, will likely be major highlights of the film.
Nandita Roy and Shiboprosad Mukherjee’s return after last year’s blockbuster Raktabeej has certainly created a buzz for Bohurupi. The duo has jointly written the story, with Nandita Roy handling the screenplay and Shiboprosad Mukherjee penning the dialogues. Indranath Marick is responsible for cinematography, while Anupam Roy, Bonnie Chakraborty, Arnab Dutta, and Noni Chora Das Baul will compose the music. Malay Laha will edit the film.
