On August 31st, Rajkummar Rao’s 40th birthday, the makers of his upcoming film surprised fans by announcing its title. Presented by Tips Films in association with Northern Lights Films, the movie is titled Maalik and will feature Rajkummar Rao as a gangster. Directed by Pulkit, this action thriller marks the 44th film in Rajkummar Rao’s career.
Known for his experimental roles, Rao is set to venture into hardcore action for the first time in Maalik. The anticipation for his upcoming projects is high, especially after the massive success of Stree 2, which has already grossed over Rs 450 crores at the box office.
The first look poster shows Rajkummar Rao in a rugged appearance, wearing a light-colored shirt and trousers, with a serious expression while holding a rifle. He stands on top of a police jeep, one leg on the roof and the other on the windshield. Below the title is the tagline, "Paida nahin huye to kya, ban to sakte hain..."
Maalik Movie: Pulkit and Rajkummar Rao Reunited After 7 Years
Maalik marks Pulkit’s fifth directorial venture in seven years since his debut with Maroon in 2017. The film also reunites Pulkit and Rajkummar Rao after seven years, following their collaboration on Bose: Dead/Alive in 2017. This is Pulkit’s first attempt at directing an action thriller, a genre that poses its own set of challenges.
If the storyline and Rajkummar Rao’s character resonate with audiences, much of the work will be accomplished. Let’s hope this duo delivers a thrilling, paisa-wasool experience. The rest of the cast and the release date are yet to be officially announced.
