Magizh Thirumeni’s directorial film Vidaamuyarchi starring Ajith Kumar, Arjun Sarja, Arav, Trisha Krishnan, and Regina Cassandra, in the lead roles, was released in theaters on 6th February 2025.
Based on Breakdown (1997), the film follows Arjun (Ajith) and Kayal (Trisha Krishnan), a couple struggling after a miscarriage. Their trip to Azerbaijan turns into a nightmare when a criminal gang led by Rakshith (Arjun Sarja), Deepika (Regena Cassandra), and Michael (Arav) kidnaps Kayal, forcing Arjun into a desperate battle for her survival.
Ajith Kumar is the driving force of Vidaamuyarchi, carrying the film with an intense and nearly flawless performance. His action scenes stand out, seamlessly blending vulnerability with relentless resolve.
Trisha Krishnan impresses as Kayal, blending beautifully with Ajith Kumar while making a lasting impact, especially with her stronger presence in the first half.
Arjun Sarja and Regina Cassandra bring an unsettling edge to their roles, perfectly capturing the madness, sadism, and brutality of their characters. Regina Cassandra shines in a well-written role, showcasing her brilliance with a compelling performance.
With well-composed frames, Om Prakash brings Azerbaijan’s deserted roads to life, enhancing the film’s atmosphere and visual impact. A well-crafted car action scene adds to the film’s excitement, making for a gripping watch.
Anirudh Ravichander’s music enriches the film, with Sawadeeka standing out and the rest of the soundtrack seamlessly woven into the story. Magizh Thirumeni ensures Ajith Kumar shines, but a lack of focus on other vital aspects holds the film back from reaching its full potential.
