Akshaye Khanna’s Villainous Brilliance From Humraaz to Chhaava

Akshaye Khanna is one of the most underrated villains in Bollywood because of his ability to bring a calm yet menacing presence to negative roles, which often goes unnoticed. His ability to convey danger through intellect rather than mere physicality is what makes him an underrated yet brilliant villain in Bollywood.

Akshaye Khanna’s journey in Bollywood began with Himalay Putra (1997), a romantic film directed by Pankaj Parashar, which was released on 4 April and starred Anjala Zaveri, Vinod Khanna, and Hema Malini.

In his 28-year journey in Bollywood, Akshaye Khanna has worked in around 40 films, leaving a mark with some truly exceptional performances. At the 47th Filmfare Awards, he won the Best Supporting Actor award for his exceptional performance in Dil Chahta Hai.

Director duo Abbas–Mustan were the first to recognize Akshaye Khanna's potential in a negative role, casting him as the antagonist in Humraaz (2002), which won him his first IIFA Award for Best Villain at the 4th IIFA Awards.

Akshaye Khanna’s portrayal in Humraaz earned him a nomination for Best Performance in a Negative Role at the 48th Filmfare Awards. He later won another IIFA Award for Best Villain at the 10th IIFA Awards.

His latest negative role was in Laxman Utekar’s Chhaava, where he portrayed Aurangzeb and left everyone stunned with his performance. With Chhaava, Akshaye Khanna might finally gain the recognition he deserves, encouraging directors to cast him in more compelling villainous roles ahead.

Akshaye Khanna is gearing up for an important role in Dhurandhar, Aditya Dhar’s upcoming spy thriller, where he will star alongside Ranveer Singh, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal, and Madhavan.
