On March 28, 2025, renowned Bollywood filmmaker Rakesh Roshan shared an exciting announcement that is sure to delight movie enthusiasts. Exactly 25 years after launching his son, Superstar Hrithik Roshan, as an actor in Bollywood with Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai, he is now introducing him as a director.
Hrithik Roshan will make his directorial debut with Krrish 4, a highly anticipated addition to the beloved superhero franchise. Rakesh Roshan extended his best wishes to Hrithik for this new chapter in his illustrious career.
Before his grand debut in Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai (2000), Hrithik Roshan had already gained valuable experience in filmmaking by assisting his father, Rakesh Roshan, in four films—Khudgarz (1987), King Uncle (1993), Karan Arjun (1995), and Koyla (1997).
Initially, Rakesh Roshan had announced that he wouldn’t be directing this installment, marking a major shift for the beloved franchise. Siddharth Anand, known for his action-packed collaborations with Hrithik Roshan in Bang Bang!, War, and Fighter, was previously brought on board as the producer.
However, with this official announcement, Aditya Chopra-led Yash Raj Films (YRF) has now taken over the project. With the script officially locked and pre-production underway, the film is set to go on floors in early 2026.
Krrish, directed by Rakesh Roshan, was released on June 23, 2006, and became a landmark film in Indian cinema. Starring Hrithik Roshan, Priyanka Chopra, Naseeruddin Shah, Rekha, Sharat Saxena, and Manini Mishra, the film was a sequel to Koi... Mil Gaya (2003) and played a crucial role in establishing India’s first successful superhero franchise.
Krrish 3, directed by Rakesh Roshan, was released on November 1, 2013, and continued the legacy of India’s biggest superhero franchise. Starring Hrithik Roshan, Vivek Oberoi, Priyanka Chopra, and Kangana Ranaut, the film expanded the Krrish universe with a larger-than-life battle between good and evil.
