Race: Saif Ali Khan and Akshaye Khanna Starring Film Completed 17 Years

Abbas-Mustan's directorial neo-noir action crime film Race completed 17 years. Produced by Ramesh S. Taurani and Kumar S. Taurani under Tips Industries, the film was distributed by UTV Motion Pictures.

Featuring Anil Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan, Akshaye Khanna, Bipasha Basu, Katrina Kaif, and Sameera Reddy in the lead roles, the film hit theaters on 21 March 2008. With a production cost of around ₹46 crore, the film was a commercial success, earning nearly ₹103 crore at the box office.

The film marked the maiden collaboration between Saif Ali Khan and Katrina Kaif. The film received nine nominations at the International Indian Film Academy Awards and secured two wins: Akshaye Khanna for Best Villain and Leslie Fernandes for Best Sound Recording.

Ajay Devgn was originally considered for Inspector Robert D'Costa, Akshay Kumar was offered the role of Ranvir, Priyanka Chopra was approached for Sonia, and Fardeen Khan was initially signed to play Rajiv in the film. Akshaye Khanna was finalized for the role of Rajiv after John Abraham, Vivek Oberoi, and Abhishek Bachchan turned it down.
