Sikandar Trailer Review: Salman Khan's high-octane action sequences & punchy dialogues stand out

On 23rd March 2025, Superstar Salman Khan unveiled the official trailer of his upcoming action thriller Sikandar. A.R. Murugadoss directs this action-packed film starring Salman Khan in the lead role.

Rashmika Mandanna and Kajal Aggarwal play the female leads, while Sathyaraj takes on the role of the main antagonist. The 3-and-a-half-minute trailer introduces Salman Khan as Sanjay Rajkot, a man wanted in 49 cases over five years.

Known for his fearless approach, he arrives in Mumbai with his team on a high-stakes mission to take down Minister Pradhan, portrayed by Sathyaraj, and dismantle a formidable crime syndicate. Salman Khan’s high-octane action sequences, Santhosh Narayanan’s gripping BGM, and punchy dialogues stand out as the key strengths of the trailer.

However, the editing could have been tighter, as it gives away too much of the plot. Moreover, the overall presentation follows a familiar South Indian template, making it seem predictable rather than fresh.

Bringing a touch of nostalgia, the trailer pays tribute to the legendary Madan Mohan’s composition and the immortal voice of Lata Mangeshkar with the iconic song Lag Ja Gale from Raj Khosla’s psychological thriller Woh Kaun Thi?

Kevin Kumar’s action choreography already makes a strong impression in the trailer, hinting at some adrenaline-pumping sequences. It looks like the makers were determined to bring something unique to the action department, and if they’ve pulled it off, this could be a visual treat.

The trailer of Sikandar, amassing 48 million views in 24 hours, secured the 7th spot among the most-viewed Bollywood trailers. It trails behind the trailers of Dunki, Skyforce, Adipurush, Singham Again, Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar, and Animal.

The hero-villain dynamic might be a concern, as the face-off between Salman Khan and Sathyaraj doesn’t immediately spark the excitement one would expect. While Sathyaraj is undoubtedly a fine actor, his presence as the antagonist against someone like Salman Khan feels like an unusual choice.

The makers decided to skip the usual Friday slot on March 28, which many felt could have been a stronger choice. But with three major festivals aligning on the weekend, they seem to be betting on an even bigger box office boost. Sikandar will release in theaters on March 30, 2025, perfectly timed with Eid, Gudi Padwa, and Ugadi.

Salman Khan is set to make a grand return to the big screen after two underwhelming cameos in Singham Again and Baby John last year. This marks his comeback in a lead role after nearly 17 months since Tiger 3, which also had a Sunday release but couldn’t quite set the box office on fire.

With Sajid Nadiadwala’s Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment backing it and A.R. Murugadoss calling the shots, this film is already generating buzz. The film marks Salman Khan’s maiden collaboration with Rashmika Mandanna and Kajal Aggarwal

What makes it even more exciting is that it marks Salman Khan’s first collaboration with Murugadoss—an interesting combo that could bring something fresh to the table. Can this duo deliver a solid entertainer? We’ll have to wait and watch!
