Fan: Superstar Shah Rukh Khan and Sayani Gupta Starring Film Completed 9 Years

Maneesh Sharma's directorial action thriller film Fan completed 9 years. Starring Superstar Shah Rukh Khan, Sayani Gupta, Shriya Pilgaonkar, and Waluscha De Sousa in lead roles, the film was released in theatres on 15 April 2016.

Backed by producer Aditya Chopra, the film was produced and distributed by the esteemed Yash Raj Films. Made on a budget of around ₹105 crore, the film grossed approximately ₹182 crore at the box office.

At the 62nd Filmfare Awards, the film earned two nominations, with Shah Rukh Khan nominated for Best Actor and Red Chillies VFX winning for Best Special Effects. At the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne, Shah Rukh Khan received a nomination for Best Actor.

Fan marked 4th directorial venture of Maneesh Sharma after Band Baaja Baaraat, Ladies vs Ricky Bahl, Shuddh Desi Romance. The film marked the maiden collaboration between Shah Rukh Khan and director Maneesh Sharma.

Manu Anand handled the cinematography of this film marking his 2nd collaboration with director Maneesh Sharma after Shuddh Desi Romance. Namrata Rao edited this film marking her 4th collaboration with director Maneesh Sharma after Band Baaja Baaraat, Ladies vs Ricky Bahl, Shuddh Desi Romance.

Vishal–Shekhar composed the songs, while Andrea Guerra provided the background score, marking both their first collaboration with director Maneesh Sharma. The film marked Shah Rukh Khan's maiden collaboration with Sayani Gupta, Shriya Pilgaonkar, and Waluscha De Sousa.

The film’s screenplay was written by Habib Faisal, with dialogues by Sharat Katariya. Yogendra Tikku, Deepika Amin, Taher Shabbir, Parveen Kaur, Megha Gupta, Amarjeet Singh, Shikha Malhotra, Indraneel Bhattacharya appeared in crucial roles in this film.

The film marked the Bollywood debut of Shriya Pilgaonkar and Waluscha De Sousa. At the 18th IIFA Awards, the film garnered four nominations, including dual nods for Shah Rukh Khan (Best Actor and Best Performance in a Negative Role), and won two awards—Best Makeup (Greg Cannom) and Best Special Effects (Red Chillies VFX).

Story:

Gaurav (Shah Rukh Khan), an obsessive fan who looks like superstar Aryan Khanna (Also Shah Rukh Khan), sets out to meet his idol but is harshly rejected. What begins as admiration turns into a dark vendetta, destroying both lives. Can fandom blur the line between devotion and obsession?
