Good Bad Ugly Movie Review: Ajith Kumar Shines in a Paisa Vasool Mass Treat

Adhik Ravichandran's directorial action-comedy film Good Bad Ugly starring Superstar Ajith Kumar, Trisha Krishnan, Arjun Das, and Jackie Shroff in the lead roles, was released in theatres on April 10, 2025.

AK (Ajith Kumar), infamously known as "The Red Dragon", surrendered to the law in 2007, choosing family over crime. After 18 long years, he comes out of prison only to find his son Vihaan (Karthikeya Dev), caught in a drug case. What follows is a high-stakes mission where AK dives back into the underworld to uncover the real culprits and save his son.

Good Bad Ugly is a full-on mass entertainer that marks Ajith Kumar’s powerful return to the commercial action zone. With his massy appeal, electric energy, vintage swag, and signature, stylish screen presence, he owns every frame.

There’s no doubt Ajith Kumar’s fans had been longing to see him in a full-fledged mass avatar, and director Adhik Ravichandran clearly understood that. With the right vision, he delivered Ajith Kumar in a way that truly satisfied the fanbase, and he definitely deserves credit for that.

Arjun Das delivers a striking performance as the antagonist, bringing intensity to every scene. A special shoutout to his moves in the Ilaiyaraaja classic Oththa Roova — a delightful surprise! The backstory for AK’s character lacked depth and didn’t quite strike an emotional chord.

Similarly, the on-screen chemistry between Ajith Kumar and Trisha Krishnan fell short of expectations. GV Prakash Kumar’s music had its moments, but it felt inconsistent. While Adhik Ravichandran succeeds in presenting Ajith in a slick, stylish avatar, the storytelling takes a backseat.

The film loses grip on its narrative and emotional layers, making it feel hollow at crucial points. Supporting actors like Sunil, Prasanna, Prabhu, Redin Kingsley, and Simran deliver convincing performances, adding depth to the narrative. The visuals are enhanced by Abinandhan Ramanujam’s refined cinematography.

As per the official update shared by the production house Mythri Movie Makers on 18th April 2025, Good Bad Ugly has crossed a major milestone by grossing over ₹200 crore worldwide.
