On 18th April 2025, 2D Entertainment unveiled the official trailer of their upcoming romantic action film Retro: Love, Laughter and War. Directed by Karthik Subbaraj, the film stars Suriya, Pooja Hegde, Jayaram, and Joju George in the lead roles.
The film has been jointly produced by Kaarthekeyen Santhanam, Jyothika, and Suriya under the banners of Stone Bench Creations and 2D Entertainment. Karunakaran, Nassar, Prakash Raj, Sujith Shankar, Singampuli, Prem Kumar, Krishnakumar Balasubramanian, Ramachandran Durairaj, Nandita Das, and Uday Mahesh will be seen in crucial roles in this film.
The film, after facing multiple postponements, is now officially slated for a theatrical release on 1st May 2025. and will hit the screens simultaneously in Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi languages. The 2-minute-40-second trailer keeps the plot under wraps but showcases retro-style visuals and Suriya in a striking new avatar, sporting a long moustache that adds to his impressive screen presence.
It briefly teases the tension between Paari (Suriya) and his wife Rukmini (Pooja Hegde). Standout moments include Joju George’s impactful dialogue and a stylish shot of Suriya on a bike towards the end. Praveen Raja’s costume design and Santhosh Narayanan’s music elevate the trailer’s appeal. Additionally, Shriya Saran and Santhosh Narayanan are set to make cameo appearances in the item songs.
