Haranath Chakraborty's directorial all-time blockbuster masala film Sasurbari Zindabad completed 25 years. Starring Superstars Prosenjit Chatterjee, Rituparna Sengupta, Ranjit Mallick, and Anamika Saha in lead roles, the film was released in theatres on 14 April 2000.
Produced by Shrikant Mohta under the banner of Shree Venkatesh Films, the film was distributed by Eskay Video Pvt. Made on a budget of around ₹60–70 lakh, the film went on to earn approximately ₹2.5 crore at the box office, becoming the highest-grossing Bengali film of 2000.
Subhashish Mukherjee, Tota Roy Chowdhury, Anuradha Ray, and Bharat Kaul appeared in significant roles in this film. This film is an official remake of the 1990 Hindi classic Jamai Raja, helmed by A. Kodandarami Reddy and featuring a star cast including Hema Malini, Anil Kapoor, and Madhuri Dixit.

Story:
When Rupa (Rituparna Sengupta), the headstrong daughter of a powerful industrialist Achintya Roy (Ranjit Mallick), escapes an arranged marriage, fate brings her to Somu (Prosenjit Chatterjee)—a warm-hearted mechanic who becomes both her protector and secret husband. But as Rupa's mother Binodini (Anamika Saha), tries to rewrite her fate, Somu reappears—not just to reclaim his bride, but perhaps to unveil a truth no one expected.
